Cd Library Dc101 Software Engineering
Just picked up new LGT 5-speed manual yesterday, and the thing is awesome, in all aspects. Especially the SI-Drive button, which I was convinced was a goofy gimmic. 'til I used that doggone thing. The H/K audio is wonderful, yet I get no info whatsoever when I push the 'Text' button. I am leaving a leased 2007 Saab 9-3 sedan, that at least gave info on burned/purchased CD's, and any FM stations that provide info on songs (artist and title). I have scoured this site for references to this, and came up empty. Maybe put wrong key words in search engine.
I don't think that there was any upgrade for the audio system, save for the NAV which is not available with the slush-box tranny anyway (Subaru probably felt that to manually shift AND use navigation system at same time would be just too much multitasking ). Any info would be most appreciated. Certainly not a reason to make too much of a fuss, but it is a nice feature on most late model cars of all makes, and it is amazing how it has helped me to build my rather eclectic audio library via Rhapsody. I have an 07 that I believe advertised this feature as well, yet I have the same issue on the FM level.
For my CD's the info does come up but there is no scrolling feature. So if my Artist and Title is longer than say 14 characters it will just cut off. Rather lazy of subaru if you ask me. There was nothing in your manual about how to activate txt scrolling? Perhaps the stations your logging into just don't offer the Text Message through they're wavelengths? Although you did say it worked on your saab so i'm gonna stop talking now haha. Seems Subaru has no vehicle/model-wide consistency on this?

I find that flabbergasting, especially as the audio system is otherwise so much better than the Saab's, or that of the 05 Volvo S5-AWD I'd previously leased, which also had the FM station info. I shall check the manual on activation, and also call the dealer today. BTW, hate to show some ignorance on the topic (firepyro 515's post), but by 'mp3 cd's', I assume this does not only apply to purchased CD's, but also CD's one burns from music stored in mp3 format? Even in the Saab, there were some inconsistencies, as some burned CD's show song info., and other's do not, even if both have been burned from my Rhapsody library, and on the same computer-. All in all, if that is the main issue I ever have with this car, then I consider myself most fortunate. Nevertheless, it would seem to be little more than a software upgrade to this otherwise phenomenal audio unit? And certainly something that would be the ultimate compliment to this system- Who to email at Subaru about this?
BTW, my music is thru Rhapsody, and all songs purchased in the past year or so are automatically in the mp3 format (they control this), and that is what is burned onto a CD. Since my son is the only one with the brand-new iPod (Dad is too happy with the far-sturdier Sony Walkman mp3 player to justify a major switch over to a company that is way too proprietary iTunes and Apple in general, and way-too-cool with all of those teeny-bopper peripherals that the 14 year old son 'has to have'), I can see no reason to get the iPod kit for the car.
When he has his own Mom/Dad-purchased Subaru Outback Sport or similar as he heads off to college in 5 years, he can install his own iPod kit- LOL.
