Lyle Guitars Serial Numbers
I was going to say the 01 at the beginning might mean it was from 2001, but if it belonged to your grandfather, then maybe the 45 is the year. I have a similar looking guitar, only I know for a fact that it is from the 60s or early 70s, and cannot find a damn thing about the brand anywhere. If I had to guess, it was a generic of a more popular style of guitar, and the brand didn't make enough to ever become widely known. But of course I could be wrong. I suggest you try to find a website that does guitar appraisals or specializes in vintage instruments. E-mail them your picture and any info you have.

Then the first few digits somehow signify the date and it wouldnt nessicarily be as simple as to say it was made in 2001 or something. The first two digits 01, could signify january and the third digit, 1, could mean 1971 or 1981. Something like that. Hope that helps a little.
